Toronto

A popular tourist destination, Toronto is also a wonderful city to call home. The Economist recently ranked us the best city in the world to live in. We couldn’t agree more.

Toronto has the highest population of any Canadian city with over 2.6 million residents and over 5.5 million in the Great Toronto Area. It’s also a vibrant commercial centre. It’s home to the Toronto Stock Exchange and all of Canada’s major national banks are headquartered here. Beyond its commercial activity, Toronto is also known as an arts and culture centre with industry in theatre, movies, television and music. It’s also home to Canada’s major broadcasting networks and media outlets.

But perhaps the biggest draw for tourists and residents are the international flavours–both in Toronto’s rich cultural mosaic (you can visit Little Italy, Little India and Chinatown just to name a few of our popular neighbourhood destinations) and literally, our flavours. We have some of the best, most diverse cuisine of any North American city. And watch out New York, we’re working on rivaling your food trucks.

Toronto is also well-known for its booming condo industry; during the peak of construction a few years ago, we had the highest number of condos under construction of any city in the world. But while the Toronto skyline has certainly changed dramatically over the last decade, we’re not just a sea of tall towers. For true loft enthusiasts, you’ll find some of the most unique, character-filled properties in North America within our gem of a city.

Toronto lofts for sale are a hot commodity and tend to sell faster, often with multiple bids, than more typical, Toronto condos due to their relative rarity and in-demand character features like soaring ceilings and exposed brick. But value appreciation is likewise very strong in most cases making Toronto lofts both an excellent investment and a great place to live.

See our Loft Guide for a complete list of Toronto loft buildings.

Toronto Loft Neighbourhoods

Toronto is a bustling, modern, international city but it’s also a city rich in character and steeped in history. And the good news for loft lovers is that there are well over 100 hard and soft lofts in Toronto to choose from. There are a number of Downtown Toronto Lofts for those who love to be right in the heart of the action but this is just one of many possible neighbourhoods to choose from in our eclectic city.

For those who like a stylish abode in a fashionable neighbourhood, check out King West Lofts that are steps to some of the best nightlife in the city. If you prefer an upscale neighbourhood, there are some really nice Midtown Toronto Lofts set slightly back from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

For history buffs, St. Lawrence Lofts are some of the most interesting in the city and the area is really vibrant and convenient. But for those who want a small village feel minutes to downtown, you may prefer to go just a little further out to the Distillery District Lofts or Liberty Village Lofts, both in self-contained, master-planned communities within historic districts.

If you’re an east-ender, here’s the great news: Leslieville Lofts and Riverside Lofts are amongst our top recommendations right now for overall building values, local area amenities and value appreciation
