St. Lawrence Market Toronto

Named for its biggest draw, the famous St. Lawrence Market, the St. Lawrence neighbourhood is a vibrant downtown Toronto community that combines old world charm with all the best in urban amenities.

You’ll find a good selection of Toronto lofts for sale here. This neighbourhood’s character features and unbeatable location–minutes to the core and steps to the awesome array of bars and restaurants along The Esplanade–keep St. Lawrence lofts in high demand.

St. Lawrence is not only popular amongst Torontonians, it’s an internationally-acclaimed tourist destination recognized by National Geographic as the No. 1 food market in the world. Saturday is the day for foodies as over 100 vendors participate in the weekly farmer’s market featuring everything from sustainable seafood and organic meats to artisan cheeses and international coffee.

It’s also a fantastic example of a neighbourhood transformation project that got it right. Once an industrial wasteland then a housing project in the 1970s, St. Lawrence has continued to grow into one of the most sustainable mixed-use, mixed-income neighbourhoods in Toronto. It’s heralded nation-wide as a shining example of urban planning and community development.

St. Lawrence Toronto really is a live/work/play neighbourhood at its best. It runs from King Street East south to the railway tracks (just north of the Gardiner) between Parliament and Yonge.

St. Lawrence Lofts

The St. Lawrence Market Lofts is one of our favourite buildings in the city and one of the quirkiest–there are no right angles in this gorgeous, 140 year old building. Units here have such a sense of history and all of the character details that loft enthusiasts crave including wooden beams and exposed brick.

In addition, there are some great soft loft buildings such as the MoZo Lofts on Adelaide just minutes to St. Lawrence Market and the Market Wharf Lofts with stunning, 2-storey level units, amazing city views and top-notch amenities.

Beyond the loft buildings themselves, what draws buyers to this area is the charm of the place. Toronto is a very young city as international cities go and so a lot of our central, urban communities have contemporary or modern aesthetics (think glass, steel and concrete).

What’s great about this ‘hood for hard loft lovers is that you get an industrial aesthetic all around you through the historic architecture. Many of St. Lawrence’s original buildings have been well preserved including the St. Lawrence Market and the iconic Gooderham Building–known by locals as the Flatiron building–which remains one of the most loved and photographed iconic buildings in Toronto.
