Distillery District Lofts: Spotlight On The Pure Spirit Lofts

Given that we're a team of Loft Experts with a love of both historic architecture and modern, industrial design, it's no suprise that we're a fan of the Distillery District. In fact, we moved our offices here last year; we're based in the former malt house and kiln at 51 Mill Street, right beside the big green gates.

There are only a handful of Distillery District lofts but they’re some of our top picks for young professionals looking for Toronto lofts for sale in a vibrant, self-contained community close to downtown.

Although it's hard to pick a winner for best loft or condo in this coveted 'hood, Pure Spirit Lofts takes top spot for most of our team because of its stellar finishes and amenities along with views that are hard to beat.

Distillery District Lofts: Why the pure Spirit lofts are the soul of this historic 'hood

The Selection

There's a ton of buyer choice here at a lot of different price points. Pure Spirit offers both soft lofts and condos along with a wide range of suite sizes across 380 units. There's ground level retail in the base podium, topped off by four levels of soft lofts and terrace units with the glass tower of condos perched above that.

The range in sizes here is vast - from 439 sqft to a massive 2,661 sqft - with various layouts including a choice of one- or two-storey units.

The Views

Whether relaxing on the common rooftop deck or on your own private terrace, Pure Spirit offers some of the best views of Toronto - the CN Tower can be clearly seen from many suites. Plus, the floor-to-ceiling windows with killer sightlines, as seen in Unit 2007 currently for sale, really give residents a sense of being a part of the pulse of the city.

a Rooftop Pool that doesn't break the bank

Pure Spirit Toronto Rooftop Patio

Our colleagues over at Condos.ca recently published a list of the best outdoor pool at Toronto condos with Pure Spirit featured.

At a time when amenities are often seen as money suckers (many developers are scaling back on things once considered essential, like parking), the rooftop pool and lounge area at Pure Spirit remains the biggest selling feature and a huge draw for residents who use it frequently with their guests. This rooftop is a lively scene come summer - truly, a vacation in your own backyard for residents. This is of course in addition to the gym, party room, sauna and other top-notch amenities.

Yet maintenance fees are still really reasonable here six years on from building registration at just $0.52/sqft - under the city's average of $0.59/sqft.

The Interior Design

We see it all too often with developers these days - starchitecture and designer lobbies with boring, cookie-cutter units or fabulous condos with lack-lustre - at times, downright depressing - common areas. But Pure Spirit manages to offer a consistent, quality aesthetic throughout.

Design here is modern and thoughtful but doesn't feel like it's trying too hard. It's an aesthetic that we think will age very well together with this building's quality finishes and warm yet neutral colour scheme as you can see in the lobby, pictured above, and inside of Unit 2007, featured throughout this piece.
